Drilling Job
In the Chinese province of Guandong, the Guangdong Dafenghua Highway is being constructed. As part of this project, a tunnel is being built near the city of Meizhou as part of the highway. An important part of this project is to carry out a survey of the geological conditions inside of the tunnel, and to search for the existence of any groundwater veins. The results of this survey will determine the approach which needs to be taken for further tunnel construction – which includes the sealing measures which will be required in the case of water veins. The boreholes have a diameter of 95 mm and are drilled up to 40 m horizontally into the face of the tunnel. Our customer, China Railways, is able to gain precisely the information required for continuation of the tunnel. A KLEMM KR 805-2, which was manufactured at the BAUER Tianjin plant, is used to carry out the drilling by way of a single rod system and a down-the-hole hammer. There is a distance of 2 km from the entrance of the tunnel to the job site - which is an unusually long distance for the drill rig to travel.
