Drilling Job
The town of Chichester is located on the south coast of England between Portsmouth and Brighton. A new housing estate is to be built there for the construction developer Bellway Holmes. This project requires a total of 911 micro-piles to be placed in the ground as foundations. Each micro-pile has a diameter of 300 mm and an average length of 15 meters. The ground conditions on the construction site are quite challenging, as they are made up from layers of course gravel and clay. The newly delivered drilling rig KR 709-3G with KH 62 from our customer Southern Piling enables a daily output of 20 piles thanks to its extra-long two-piece drill mount type L303 and the integrated concrete feed system. Segmented hollow augers with 4“ concrete feedthrough core barrel openings are used. Once the bore has been sunk and the extraction takes place the micro-pile is simultaneously filled with fresh concrete. The cage is then simply inserted into the new pile and sinks into the desired position due to its own weight and mechanical pressure.
Drilling Application
Segmented hollow stem augers of 300 mm diameter to drill 15 m deep.
